Belgium is introducing a single road vignette for cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
The new system starts on 1 May 2027 and one vignette will cover Flanders, Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region.
Which vignettes you can choose
Belgium will offer five validity periods. Choose according to how long you will really be using Belgian motorways and regional roads.
10days
Ten-day vignette
Ideal for a seaside holiday, a long weekend or a short business trip.
1month
One-month vignette
For a longer stay, a placement, or a period when you travel to Belgium repeatedly.
2months
Two-month vignette
For the summer season, a longer work assignment or a study stay in Belgium.
1year
Annual vignette
The best value for commuters, carriers and families travelling to Belgium all year round.
The system starts on 1 May 2027 and vignettes go on sale on 1 March 2027. The price of each option depends on the vehicle's emission category – see the section below.
Vehicle emission categories
The Belgian system sorts vehicles into three emission groups. You can tell which one yours belongs to from the Euro emission standard given in its registration documents.
Euro 0–3
Older vehicles with higher emissions meeting Euro 3 or lower. The vignette is most expensive in this group.
For example, older petrol and diesel passenger cars.
Euro 4 and above
Most newer petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles. The vignette costs less here than in the Euro 0–3 band.
For example, a passenger car meeting the Euro 6 standard.
Zero-emission vehicles
Vehicles with no direct emissions. The vignette is the cheapest of all three bands in this category.
For example, battery-electric or hydrogen vehicles.

The emission category affects the vignette price
The rule is simple: vehicles with lower emissions pay less. For the same validity period a battery-electric car will therefore pay considerably less than an older diesel. You will find your vehicle's Euro emission standard in its registration documents, usually next to the engine and emissions data. If you are unsure, check it before you buy – it determines the price.
